There is currently no continuous or officially signposted long-distance hiking trail along the Ems. However, for cyclists, there is the approximately 385 km long EmsRadweg (Ems Cycle Route) from the Ems springs near Hövelhof to Emden on the North Sea. For me, so far the most beautiful section of my Ems hike. Finally long stretches directly on the river, often through the forest.
Today we walked upstream as an exception, there are simply more trains from Rheine in the direction of Münster than from Salzbergen, and it is also a bit more hospitable there...
