    After a rest day yesterday, I rode from Cowra to Canowindra and back to try a different type of NSW country ride — flat and open with only the occasional rise or dip. It looked easy on paper but was more taxing than expected. The breeze came steadily from the side for much of the ride and was gusty at times. Stopped in Canowindra for lunch, then headed back in the afternoon. On the way out of town a magpie swooped and caught my ear, drawing a bit of blood

    20 August 2025 – Valladolid day trip Outbound to Fuensaldaña Castle, 25.5 km with steady climbing. Stopped at the castle before continuing to the villages. Harder effort, legs felt tight. Return via the canal, 20.5 km, flatter with only 60 m of climbing. Stopped for lunch before heading back. At first sluggish but after a few kilometres my legs loosened, blood flowing better, muscles felt used to riding again. Stronger rhythm on the way home, smoother finish.
