Urban Hike in the Land of the Impressionists: Bougival-Louveciennes-Port-Marly
Today’s urban hike started in Bougival, from where I climbed up toward La louveciennes with the goal of reaching the Château de Bellevue. Along the way, I discovered charming narrow streets, full of character and quiet beauty. The climb was quite steep making it a great workout and a real cardio challenge. After that, I found a path descending toward the Machine de Marly. From there, the walk turned into a true nature hike, surrounded by snowy landscapes where you have a view directly on la defence. This section would certainly be even more enjoyable in summer, but the snow gave it a special atmosphere, and I took several photos along the way. I eventually reached the area in front of the Machine de Marly, right by the Seine. Along the way there is paintings of Alfred SISLEY who painted many streets of la louveciennes . My next destination was the Château de Monte-Cristo, the former residence of Alexandre Dumas. To get there, I head toward Port-Marly, with another uphill section leading to the château. The effort was worth it—the château was absolutely stunning. From there, I continued toward the footbridge connecting this riverbank to the Île de la Loge, before heading to the Quai des emmaüs. The final part of the hike brought me back to Bougival, ending at its beautiful church. Overall, this route truly captures the spirit of the Impressionist region, blending urban exploration, history, nature, and beautiful river landscapes.
