This was a great walk across open country taking in an agricultural landscape, spectacular country properties, a former WW2 airfield and an active international airport runway. Quite easy to navigate despite my occasional 'U Turns'. On reflection I would avoid Waltham Hall Road and use my return cross

I actually started the walk at Bank in the City and headed North via Prices Street, Moorgate and City Road (1 .6 miles) to the start of the recorded section at Wharf Road N1. Quite an uphill walk but highly rewarded with the views of Mount Fitzroy and Capri Lake. Just check the start point at the end of the main street (St Martin with free parking). We wasted more than an hour finding the start and returning to our parking at Tourist Information who failed to furnish us

Easily accessible from central London via the Central Line. This walk comprises 90+% forest (not parkland) with the chance of sighting wild deer, circling two ancient encampments and amazing ancient forest scenery. Good paths too
