And finally, the last stage of the Hexenstieg: another very beautiful section. Scenically, it's truly the most beautiful section. But of course, you're not alone on this stage. A detour to the Rosstrappe makes everything a little more varied. However, here too, the journey is, of course, the destination

Stage 4 leads from Königshütte to Altenbrak. I particularly enjoyed the narrow paths in the last third of this hike, directly along the Bode River. The route passes the dam walls of the Rappbode Dam and the Wendefurth Dam. It's just a shame that the view of the Rappbode Dam is almost completely overgrown

Well... I liked stage 2 much better. Today, it was almost entirely gravel or paved roads. Plus, the almost dystopian landscape. You have to like it. It had nothing to do with the Harz Mountains I experienced 40 years ago.

The second stage, from Buntenbock to Torfhaus, was one of the most beautiful stages of the Hexenstieg for me. The gravel paths here are significantly limited. I particularly enjoyed the path along the long water channels.

I didn't particularly like it. The trail is more like a supply route, with no major highlights, a monotonous, steady climb. You're almost entirely on gravel. In summer, the sun also shines, so you're almost always walking in it. I wouldn't do this trail with children. It's too boring. The second stage is much nicer!
