Setting on from Tring train station, and ending at Berkhamsted train station, this was a beautiful bikepacking route around the Chiltern Hills. Weather was amazing on the Saturday, peaking at about 25 degrees. Well used trails but still dry enough that there was very little mud. High winds meant a lot of branches and sticks hidden in leaves to ping up and get stuck in spokes, but fortunately the only mechanical was a flint puncture on day 2 (a lot of stony trails on the 2nd half of the ride). Camped overnight near Christmas Common.

After travelling from Peterborough to Boston, the loop started in ernest and I headed north to Skegness via some very flat and quiet rural roads with nothing but fields of veg and the odd tractor for company. Mostly had a tailwind so it was very serene. Had planned a lunch stop at the beautiful Batemans
