From the end of the road you can walk as long as you want, just take enough water with you and sun protection. You don’t feel the heat because of the constant breeze.

This is an absolutely remarkable site as you can see. Helicopter rescue services say it’s #3 in operations all across Hawaii to save people. A lot of folks underestimate the effects of the humid heat here. It might be “only” 85 degrees but it feels towards 100! To climb 762 feet doesn’t seem much but it really is. Water 💧 is a must when climbing. The pathway is good, flat in the beginning then quickly getting steeper, leading to long stairways and thru a poorly lighted tunnel. All the time people cross. It’s pretty sensible to set a cap of visitors. At times, I felt a bit strange. The whole body has to work hard, and all my clothes got wet. Thank God, sometimes there was a cool breeze.

Hiking to Honolulu Zoo, visiting the aquarium, walking along Waikiki Beach to the historical center m
with Ilona Palace, King Kamehameha statue and other sites. Then riding back by bus to my Airport Hotel.
