We walked this route on a showery day in mid October 2025 after a few days of rain. Parts of the walk were very muddy, especially over Withypool Hill where the trail is popular with cyclists. You will need walking poles. The cafe in Withypool is highly recommended. We were diverted to the West Side of the river on the route back to Tarr Steps due to a bridge being inaccessible.
