Setting off from the middle of Saint Jean Pied Port the walk is about 85% uphill to the refuge. Great views on the way and when you get to the refuge. We stopped for coffee and cake (very reasonable prices) and walked back on the same route (couldnt find an alternative). Total miles = 10 miles with an elevation of 750m. Finished off with a cold beer back in SJPP. 😎
