Our final stage on the Fishermen’s Trail took us 22 km along the rugged Atlantic coast. The day was marked by powerful winds and long sandy stretches that tested our endurance—every step sunk deep, making progress slow and tiring. Yet, the wild ocean views and dramatic cliffs reminded us why this trail is so special. Despite the struggle, reaching Porto Covo felt incredibly rewarding. A perfect ending to an unforgettable trekking adventure!

This stage was about 12 km – shorter, but still quite demanding. After some sandy coastal paths, we crossed a stretch known as the “bost / boombo forest.” It’s only around 500 meters long, but the uneven ground, tree roots, and tight trail make it a section where you need to take extra care. Once through, the reward was spectacular: a hidden beach, beautiful cliff views, and finally the fun of crossing the Mira River by small boat Arriving in Vila Nova de Milfontes felt special – a charming town where we enjoyed swimming and relaxing by the sea. Watch your step in the forest section, especially if it has rained, as the trail can be slippery.
