The hike from Gornji Dušnik to Trem (1810 m) unfolded in rare inversion conditions, creating the feeling of walking above the world. The route began in fog-covered forest, where bare trees faded into mist, then opened onto wide grassy ridges dotted with limestone. As the trail climbed, the clouds dropped below the group, revealing Trem rising sharply from a white ocean. Along the way, hikers crossed the high plateau and met free-grazing mountain cows before reaching the dramatic cliff edges and narrow summit ridge. A memorable “fog hike” full of surreal views, silence, and the iconic floating peaks of Suva Planina.

Boyansko Lake is a gentle escape - an easy trail that lets your body move without effort and your mind loosen. The forest is mostly beech and birch, tall and elegant, giving the light a soft, diffused tone. The lake at the end is a mirror - not for taking pictures, but for taking a breath. It is a slow hike. A walk for clarity, for resetting your emotional frequency. 🕒 Time: 1.5–2.5 hours round trip 🎚 Difficulty: Easy 🎭 Recommended mood: Soft introspection, quiet talk, hand-in-hand walking

Our journey to Maglič Fortress began along the Ibar River, where we crossed by an old-fashioned wooden ferry powered by hand and rope. Surrounded by autumn colors and the sound of flowing water, the adventure already felt like stepping back in time. The trail climbed through peaceful forest paths and scenic viewpoints overlooking the Ibar Canyon, one of Serbia’s most dramatic landscapes. Along the way, hand-painted signs reminded hikers to respect nature — with witty rhymes about keeping the trail clean and staying lucky. We stopped at a small mountain shelter café, enjoyed local hospitality, and followed paths marked on maps showing the Stolovi mountain range. Encounters with wildlife, including a harmless snake basking in the sun, added to the sense of being deep in nature. The final ascent revealed the magical fortress of Maglič, proudly standing above the river. Its walls overlook winding roads, rivers, and forests — a perfect symbol of medieval history meeting natural beauty. It was a day filled with adventure, serenity, and connection with nature, a reminder of how much beauty Serbia holds just beyond the beaten path.

After an early October storm, we set out for a hike toward Trem, one of the most scenic peaks in Serbia. The trail was unexpectedly transformed — snow covered the forest floor, and fallen trees blocked the path at many points. What was supposed to be a calm autumn hike turned into a real adventure through broken branches, icy slopes, and misty mountain views. Nature showed both its beauty and power. Нема шанса (No chance)

We started our climb at 9:15 in the morning with a forecast predicting heavy rain only after 7 p.m. The summit welcomed us around noon with light drizzle, just as we paused for snacks, chocolate, and Coca-Cola for energy. At 12:15, we began the descent. Within 30 minutes, the rain intensified, forcing us to use an umbrella. My 7-year-old daughter carried it the entire way down. After 1–2 hours, we entered the forest and continued toward the car, completely soaked. Thankfully, warm boots and dry clothes in the car saved the day. ⚠️ Lesson learned: mountain forecasts can change quickly—always carry spare dry clothes. On the trail, being wet doesn’t matter much, but once you stop, staying dry is essential.
