Haven't had time for a real hike today, but I did pass some nice places on my way to UW and back: Interlaken Park on my way there and a bit of the Arboretum on my way back.

Two weeks of conferences ahead, so I've taken a little farewell walk in the Black Forest. More to come in August.
The part between Talwiese and Zieflensberg was clearly the highlight. Highly recommended! There is no need to hike up there the way I did; the place is not far away from various other trails

No, the whole path wasn't this green. I was just selective in where I took pictures.

This is not the easiest way from Lautenbach to Oppenau. That honor likely goes to the river trail, which I've yet to try. But it has its own charm, including a ruined fort on a hilltop. The descent to Holzermatt was slightly challenging, but of course there are paved alternatives.
This was another part

Almost an urban walk.

A less sunny day would have made this a lot more fun. For today, it was too many vinyards.
The digression to Ullenburg was pointless; there is nothing left of that ruin except for a mound. On the other hand, Schauenburg is worth the extra 15 minutes; I just skipped it this time because I have been there

Continuation of my walk down the western fringe of the Black Forest. The little detour towards Lauf could have been avoided (indeed, I was not planning to take it), but that's where the greatest highlights of this tour are (the picturesque trail along the river, the goat pen and the castle ruin) -- it

Third of 3 short hikes today. The zoo has gotten much more exciting than it used to be 15 years ago, when I visited it the last time.
No, we didn't get to see the polar bears (it was probably too hot for them), nor did we get the peacocks to spread their trains.

Second of 3 short hikes today. I was showing a friend around. The tram (S11) was rather unreliable; we even thought of descending to Fischweier.

First of 3 short hikes today. Really a walk, but the park here is really tasteful, and they keep adding new art objects, some of which double as benches :)

If you're wondering how I hiked in this heat... well, the place is called Kaltenbronn for a reason. Besides I started early (leaving home at 5:30 to get there in the morning). Still, the last few miles weren't fun.
First few (unassigned) pictures are from a short walk around Bad Herrenalb, where I was

Warning: this is an extremely popular trail. We started at 9 AM and it was already fairly full. (Surprisingly the stream of tourists abated somewhat by early afternoon, but there was still no point where you couldn't hear some chatter in the distance.)
