A lovely walk. The first half is mainly downhill on forest paths to the Burgeralm (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). From the Burgeralm, you continue climbing to the Kohlmaiskopf (the terminus of the Kohlmaisgipfelbahn cable car). The climb is always along a wide path.

Beautiful hike. We started this hike at the Alte Schmiede hut (via the Azitz Cable Car 1 & 2 from Leogang). From there, we went to the Schabergkogel and the Geierkogel. Back via the Schabergkogel and Schönleitenhütte to the Wildenkarkogel, and then via the small Azitzkopf back to the Azitz Cable Car 2 mountain station.
