In Laces, take the main road west, turn right onto Via Tiss to the busy Vinschgauer Straße and cross it. Beyond, climb up a small path up into the forest and directly to the Waalweg, 655 m. You always walk in the east, on the way offer the ever changing impressions of forest and sunlit paths, the views of the valley and the opposite hill and mountain formation. You can see the cable car to St. Martin, which crosses high above the path. On the way to Kastelbell is the farm Pfraum with snack station. At Kastelbell you now walk through the vineyards and chestnut groves, then past Kastelbell Castle, and turn off to the village; Here begins the descent on the castle road down to the place Kastelbell and the Vinschgauer Talstaße. The way back to Latsch is by SAD bus or by the Vinschgerbahn. The train station is on the other side of the Adige and can be reached in a few minutes
From the village center in Latsch you will reach the starting point of the tour in about ten minutes. Via the Tisser Weg near the valley station of the cable car to St. Martin im Kofel you reach the entrance to the Latschanderwaal. On the first section you go through a deciduous forest along the Waals, which runs parallel to the Vinschgauer road. On rocky places the Waal is led through pipes and the footpath leads over overlying, well secured wooden bridges. Then you pass the Latschander Gorge, which gave the Waalweg its name. Soon after you leave the forest and wander through the promising Vinschgau vineyards. At 650 meters above sea level the famous Riesling is grown here. After a short time you will see the village Kastelbell with its beautiful castle.
