Fourteen hikers enjoyed the autumn atmosphere near Lommersum on the Erft River today and delved into the historical background:
Lommersum and Kerpen, not far downstream, fell as exclaves to the victor of the battle, Duke John I of Brabant, in 1288 after the Battle of Worringen. Brabant became part of

We actually wanted to hike in the Eifel today. But Deutsche Bahn wasn't really interested in taking us there. So @RenaU and @Renate G. spontaneously changed their minds and chose this beautiful local tour. Why travel far away when the good things are so close?

Today, we hiked the crowning stage of the Malerweg trail, into the Wolfsschlucht Gorge, climbing narrow steps to the Hockstein, where we enjoyed a stunning view of Hognstein Castle. We had lunch on the banks of the Elbe, and then climbed (700 steps, they say) to the national park's most famous rock formation

Today we explored the area around Hohnstein. We descended past sandstone cliffs to the Polenz River, then reached the Brand and Hafersäcke viewpoints. A wonderful stop with a magnificent view awaited us. Fantastic views awaited us at Schanzberg, where Napoleon once stationed his cannons. Then we descended

Despite everything, we were still lucky with the weather today. When the eleven of us set off from Bonn, it was raining a little. But after comparing the forecasts on our weather apps, we simply opted for the cheapest option, and the rain cooperated. On the second half of our tour, and especially in

The hiking car park "Am Schnorrenberg" in Brühl was the starting point of our half-day tour in the Ville, which took us to Lake Franziskus near Liblar and ended at the ice cream parlor "Kalt und Süß" on Euskirchener Straße.

Eingekehrt in Rogers Restaurant, sehr guter Kuchen!!! Und zurück nach Marienheide.

Despite some cancellations due to illness and weather, 30 cheerful hikers still set off on their annual end-of-year hike right from our doorstep. The weather initially seemed to be playing tricks on us, as the path to the meeting point and up into the Ville hills was dangerously slippery in places. Fortunately
