Lac Combal – Lac Combal rondtocht vanuit Courmayeur

For unknown reason the road to the starting point is closed (most likely in connection with previous landslides). You have to park your car at the picknick point and not aloud any further. Parking is €15 for a full day. There is a (free) shuttle bus available (see for more info; https://aosta.arriva.it/en/courmayeur-mont-blanc/) I discovered it only at the end of the day from the hike back. While looking back I would have preferred to rent a mountain bike in Coumayeur to cycle up, hike, cycle back. The hike itself; what an amazing views!!! Wauw! Amazing beautiful scenery! You can hike the route in both directions, but I'm glad I started the steep part. The other side is relatively easy and that is advantageous for the knees. Make sure you hike when the weather forecast is favorable. Take warm clothes and cloves just to be sure. I experienced very strong and cold wind at the top of Mony Fortin.

PLEASE NOTE! The loop is NOT possible to hike as the flood of 2024 have swept away the bridges that make crossing possible. I understand that crossing is very dangerous and should not be taken lightly. Also, some parts of the steep uphill are damaged and harder to pass. Hence why I joined some lovely people and we made our way up to Bivacco Money independently. Turend out to be a challenging but amazing and most wonderful experience for me. You should have fears and good hiking skills. This is not suitable for beginner hikers.

When you start the path on the left side it's easy to get up to the waterfalls and lake, but the way down is quite rough on the knees as it is steep and also larger rocks to take. Also the path is damaged. Trees hang over the path and give a general feeling of unsafety. People try to find their way around, but This makes it muddy and at risk of slip/ falling. Did see some Mountain goats, was too nice! All the more reason to comply with the rule to respect your dog.

Large parts of the path are damaged during the floods of 2024. The loop is not possible anymore because bridges that make crossing rivers possible on the way back have been swept away. Crossing, so I understand, is very dangerous atm and shouldn't be taken lightly. If you go, the same steep path needs
