Ashiwadayama-Sankodai-Loop
Unobstructed views on Mt Fuji and lake Saiko. Steep ascent to Ashiwadayama, otherwise easy trail.

Mt. Chausu - Utsukushigahara Highland
Nice loop to Chausuyama and Utsikushigahara on a good and easy trail. Great views from the top on a clear day.

Mount Hakkoda
Beautiful roundtrip to Mt. Hakkoda, which offers great views to Aomori and the surrounding mountains. Part of the trail is through colourful marshland. May be muddy in some parts. Hike can be extended to the ropeway or other nearby mountains. Requires about 4.5 hrs.

Michinoku Coastal Trail
First few kilometres of the 1000 km long coastal trail. Offers a bit of everything: beautiful beaches, stretch of pine wood, rocky shores...not remote, but a great hike for an afternoon. Takes about 3 hrs, a train can be used to return to the trailhead.

Oirase Gorge
Easy trail through a beautiful forest along the Oirase steam. Unfortunately, the trail is often very close to the road (on some stretches on the road), but nevertheless worth doing... There are several bus stops along the track (last bus around 16.15 from lake Takoda back to the trailhead).
