GEOPARK Bayern-Böhmen

Der Nationale GEOPARK Bayern-Böhmen ist eine Einrichtung der Landkreise Bayreuth, Neustadt a.d. Waldnaab, Tirschenreuth und Wunsiedel i. Fichtelgebirge gemeinsam mit rund 80 Kommunen in der Region. In Tschechien sind die Geoparks Egeria (Bezirk Karlsbad) und GeoLoci (Bezirk Pilsen) Partner im gemeinsamen grenzüberschreitenden Bayerisch-Böhmischen Geoparks (Czech-Bavarian Geopark).

Aufgabe des Geoparks ist die Vertiefung des geowissenschaftlichen Wissens in der Bevölkerung und die Schaffung eines attraktiven Angebotes für die Entdeckung der Region. Dies verwirklichen wir durch die Schaffung einer vielfältigen Infrastruktur, darunter Themenwege und Infostellen, mit Führungen ausgebildeter Geoparkranger und durch ein digitales Angebot, darunter die bei komoot eingestellten Touren.

In der Region des Geoparks dokumentieren sich mehr als 500 Mio. Jahre Erdgeschichte anhand vieler attraktiver Geotope - und dies nahezu lückenlos. Erleben Sie hier die Entstehung des geologischen Fundamentes von Mitteleuropa in der Phase bis zum Abschluss der Variszischen Gebirgsbildung, die Überflutung des europäischen Kontinentes durch das Jurameer und die Entstehung der zahlreichen Vulkane des Egerrifts.
