About Jim Riach
I live and work in Port of Menteith on the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. I have a love of biking, bushcraft and bees and helping others reconnect with nature, through cycling, walking and wild food. Local rides, meanders, bike safaris and foraging with the odd adventure thrown in. We have a small cycling and walking friendly, holiday let, Newton Bothy, newtonbothy.com which is a great base for exploring the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

This small loch in Angus, is located nearly 610m (2,000 feet) above sea level.

It is a superb example of a mountain corrie. Although it is relatively small, the entire area around Loch Brandy creates a tremendous landscape, well worth the effortand a well earned cup of tea in the hotel afterwards.

Follow the cycle path, NCN 7, north to the site of the old Roman Fort at Bochastle before picking up the Great Trossachs Path past Samson’s Stone and Dunmore Hill Fort. You will get spectacular views over Loch Venachar before descending down to the Glen Finglas gateway centre at Brig o Turk, and onwards
