Today we take a little hike farewell to Merano and its charming surroundings. In the past few weeks, we have once again come to appreciate South Tyrol as a very nice holiday destination.

Every holidaymaker in the southern Italian city of Merano should not miss the opportunity to visit the village of Fondo and the Rio Sass canyon. The 1.8 km long canyon hike is really a real treat. The tour of this gorge is sensational. In the semi-darkness one runs 600 steps down on built-in light grid grates approx. 100 m. The installation of the catwalks cost 3 million euros. The maximum depth from the top is 90 m, from the catwalk down 50 m. In the ravine, which is only 0.5 m wide, a mountain stream roars at the very bottom.
The village of Rondo has a typical Italian flair u. has other attractions.

Today we have again made a particularly beautiful high mountain hike. The photos can not sufficiently reflect the many impressions. There is no rushing / murmuring / murmuring of mountain streams; the ringing of grazing cattle; the toll of the distant church; the polyphonic birdsong; the voice of the wind in the treetops; the pleasant scent of hay on the alpine meadows; the friendly, laid-back hikers greet each other and the conversations; the inviting alpine inns and the delicious dishes / drinks and much more ........... If you love nature, you can do it all on a mountain hike and enjoy!

Fantastic impressions during the entire hike: mountain massifs, blooming flowers, good gastronomy, shady forests, well-developed and marked trails, invariably friendly hikers, for those who are really interested, even an adder.

Today it was a hike with fantastic pictures of the massifs of the snow-capped Dolomites. When you see something like that and love the mountains, you really get into a rapture!

      A Waalwanderung is something special.
Parallel to the trail, a "Waal" is led, in which water flows at high speed. This water is branched off from above by a river and serves to irrigate the wine / fruit fields. The Waalwege are well developed and very easy to commit.
