About Nationalpark Hainich
Urwald mitten in Deutschland

At around three and a half kilometres, the short Eichenbergweg is a wonderful excursion for the whole family. You start at Thiemsburg and walk through a wonderfully wooded landscape with romantic small bridges. If you feel like it, you can also include the exciting treetop path in your tour.

    1. The Possen primeval forest trail south of Sondershausen leads you into a 1000-hectare protected forest area, which may develop into a "primeval forest of tomorrow" in the long term. You can find more information at thueringer-urwaldpfade.de/routen/urwaldpfad_possen_-_thueringer_urwaldpfade

    1. On this short hike you can experience the development of a former commercial forest into a forest wilderness. The Hainich National Park already has more than 90 percent unused area. True to the motto of all German national parks "Let nature be nature", the forest returns to its wild roots. You can find

    1. The hike leads through the most valuable part of the Hainich National Park. This circular route is marked with the UNESCO diamond. The path owes its name to the fact that the Hainich National Park, together with four other beech forests in northern and central Germany, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage

On this eleven-kilometer path you dive into the Thuringian jungle. The hike takes you from Hauteroda through dense, original forest - some of the trees are up to 200 years old. Again and again you pass deep gorges.
