Nationalpark Hainich

Urwald mitten in Deutschland

This short loop is the perfect complement to a trip into the treetops and to the National Park Center. Especially in spring, after the snowmelt or heavy rain, the nature trail reveals its most beautiful side.

At around three and a half kilometres, the short Eichenbergweg is a wonderful excursion for the whole family. You start at Thiemsburg and walk through a wonderfully wooded landscape with romantic small bridges. If you feel like it, you can also include the exciting treetop path in your tour.

On this eleven-kilometer path you dive into the Thuringian jungle. The hike takes you from Hauteroda through dense, original forest - some of the trees are up to 200 years old. Again and again you pass deep gorges.

On this short circular hike you will discover part of the Southern Harz Nature Park, which is characterized by its unique gypsum karst landscape. The soft, relatively water-soluble gypsum rock has shaped the landscape for more than 250 million years. A great landscape for hiking.

The Wildkatzenpfad is an approx. 7 km long, very well signposted circular route. The path is part of the WWF project Thuringian Jungle Paths and offers the opportunity to combine a hike with a visit to the wild cat enclosure in Hütscheroda. It is best to check the current feeding times at wildkatzendorf.com beforehand!
