So this was part 2 of a 2 part ride. Part 1 is about cycling to Rothesay 'the long way', and I figured there wasn't going to be much chance of me having enough energy or time left in a day ride to see the sights of Bute after that, so for this South Bute Wander I took the train to Wemyss Bay, sailed

'When I were a lad' we would often take the long way to Bute, via Loch Lomondside, Rest and be Thankful and Glendaruel to the ferry at Colintraive. This ride covered a similar route, starting at Balloch and keeping traffic to a minimum with cycle routes, gravel tracks, long bypassed single track roads
