About Franky

Long planned, but implemented today, a tour to the Brexbach valley. Already the journey there inspired me, apart from the ascent to Anhausen which pulls up like "chewing gum" ... 😂 it went through forests, fields and meadows. Past "Veltens Weiher" until finally the first viaduct "showed the entrance to the Bexbach valley. Narrow paths, trails and paths wind along the Brexbach. Sometimes you go along the old train route, sometimes through the middle of dense forest and you meet again and again Viaducts / bridges. On my route, most of the paths and paths were very narrow, but this morning there was no one on the way, which could be very narrow at the weekend ... 🤣
The "trip" through the Brexbach valley was particularly varied, going up and down, right next to the Brexbach, also through a stream (inlet with low water). I followed the Brexbach to Sayn Castle and started my way back via Heimbach-Weis, past Gladbach, Oberbieber and Melsbach.
All in all, one of the most beautiful tours for me ...

In order to take advantage of the "dream weather" we went to the Ehrenstein Monastery today, and because it was on the "path" a detour to the Lahr castle ruins before we went into the Grenzbach valley.
Unfortunately, the monastery was closed to visitors today because a "wedding ceremony" was performed. Didn't know that nuns were allowed to marry ... 😂
Continue to the Lahr castle ruins, where suddenly the path and path had turned into "forest"
At the castle ruins you can take a "leisurely" break, there is enough seating and of course the view from there ...
We went on to the Grenzbach valley, where today there was a real "business" by hikers and bikers.
Via Linkenbach, where the "village pond" is a very well-kept facility, to Oberraden and back to the "starting point" .😃
      I wish everyone a nice weekend ... 🌞🚴‍♀️🍻

After the dark clouds had cleared, we went to the Giershofen ponds today. Right at the beginning at the "bench with a beautiful view" the dirt road was "straightened" and filled with split ... 😂why also ... but what do I know ... 😎 Short rest at the "wellness bench" near Oberraden it went to the ponds near Giershofen.
In the spring I was greeted with a loud "frog concert", but today ... 😤 the frogs have probably all turned into "princesses" ... 😂😅😁Discovered a great rest area near Thalhausen with an adjacent parking lot, so also for hikers and Nordic Suitable for walking fans ... made a short detour to the "Roman protective wall", but even there ... no "Roman" to be seen ... 😅 rapid descent to the "Pilz" and the "Alteck" to the swan pond. Then back through the Engelsbach and Laubach valleys ...
Relaxed tour in the best weather ... Exactly what "body and soul" need ... 😁😎
You all have a nice weekend...

Dream weather ... 😎 with sunshine and clear air, simply through the Aubach valley again. There was still little going on, very few hikers and bikers were out.
A new hut has been set up at the "crossing" Oberraden-Urbach-Grenzbach-Tal, there were no seats inside, I am sure they will catch up ... 🤣😎👍

In the most beautiful sunshine I was drawn to the Wied Valley today, just enjoy the clear air, relax, clear your mind and let the wheels roll ... 🤣

Due to the weather this morning, the tour changed and drove via Kurtscheid into the Fockenbach valley. The "path" shortly after Kurtscheid is criss-crossed with larger cross gutters, probably so that the water can run off faster, but it is "dangerous" for "mountain bikers" and other cyclists, as they are quite deep and not wide enough to get through with "Schmackes" / to drive over it. If you accidentally scratch your nose, it could knock your front wheel out ... 🤣
And there are a lot of cross gutters ...
Via Siebenmorgen-Epgert-Horhausen to the Grenzbachtal to Linkenbach. On the way to Oberraden, take a short break at the "tar road wellness bench" 🍫🥨
Shortly after the Oberhonnefelder Weiher, the first raindrops came 🌧, but it was limited. A short detour into the Laubachtal and back via the "Hollenbusch vantage point". Despite the mixed weather, we enjoyed fresh air and nature again ... 😎

Inspired by Dirk.🅱️ 😉 Today we went to "Burg Reichenstein". As always, the journey through the Grenzbach valley was accompanied by tranquility and nature. On the way to the castle you pass a bench from where you have a fantastic view of the valley and the castle. After a lap around the castle, I had to realize that there is no entrance to the castle, at least the gate was locked today 😤. As a "castle ruins fan" I was a bit disappointed 😤.
But I won't let my mood spoil me, so continue towards the Aubachtal, across meadows and fields. Turned from the Aubachtal into the Jahrsbach valley, which I had already learned to appreciate on my very first tours. Because this calm, the view over the Jahrsbach, simply indescribable😎. Even in the cold season, the sun's rays are extremely warm. So, raved enough 🤣, we went on to the Butterpfad, the first part to Bonefeld is "free of knots" except for a tree that lies across the way.

I wanted to go to the Rossbacher Häubchen, inspired by Dirk.🅱️, for a long time. So up on the bike and off through the "Heide" 🤣
When I got to the plateau, I was a bit confused by the great descriptions. Certainly it was due to all the trees around that one had no view, so go back in late autumn..😎
The plateau also felt like an old "thing place" of the Germanic peoples ... 😎 Well, sometimes my imagination just goes through with me ... 🤣
The descent to Rossbach, however, was worthwhile.
From Rossbach I came across the "Walburg Castle" a little above the Wied, nicely hidden and in good shape, at least that was the external impression. According to the I-Net, it should be a "firn seat", certainly not by a craftsman .. 🤣
Once you have reached the top, a very fast trail leads to Waldbreitbach ... Finally along the Wied to Niederbreitbach and back through the Fockenbach valley.

Today an "educational tour" through the home region. Thanks to Dirk.🅱️'s tip (thanks Dirk) we went to the Hausenborn monastery ruins. Across the Limes, which was currently partially closed due to tree felling, to the Hausenborn monastery ruins. Actually still in good condition, at least the outer walls. It is estimated that it was founded as a church in the middle of the 15th century and it functioned as a pilgrimage site or pilgrimage chapel.
From there down the "Isenburg Trail" with all its "pitfalls", be it slippery steps or steep turns, everyone will find something here ... 🤣 We went on to the Isenburg castle ruins, if one is already nearby😎.
The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1103 and was the ancestral home of the Isenburg family. In 1664, with the death of Count Ernst von Isenburg-Grenzau, the Nieder-Isenburg line died out. Today the castle (ruin) belongs to the Prince of Wied.
From Isenburg from the direction of Anhausen, down into the Aubachtal to the Jahrsfelder Mühlen and back towards Kurtscheid.

Today we went to the Grenzbach valley in bright sunshine. The entry took place via Willroth. If you want to change sides in the Grenzbach valley, the Grenzbach is often fenced in and you have to use these "trap doors". But already at the first change he stood there, in the middle of the path and ate in peace. Even a "hello bull" didn't bother him, but when I got closer to about 5m, the 🐃 looked at me and it didn't look like I was allowed to use "his" path. So I turned around and used the next "change" over the Grenzbach. Then I ran 🐐🐐 across the path, running free ... 😂 It felt like a "zoo tour" 😃
From the Grenzbach valley it went via Oberlahr to the Waldhotel Heiderhof, a beautiful forest route by the way, after Siebenmorgen. From there, of course, down to the Fockenbach valley and back over the Burschenhütte ... 😃
