About Pete Rawlings

After years of being an armchair cyclist watching La Tour and my son’s positive encouragement to “get out there!” I finally have got on to two wheels again for the first time since the early 80’s. Then it was on a Claud Butler Majestic tourer with Reynolds 531 frame and pretty good kit for the time, and my cycling was around the lanes in and around Lancaster where I lived at the time. I still have that bike yet when venturing forth from my home in Ceredigion a couple of times during lockdown I realised that my lack of fitness and advancing years plus the steep hills everywhere (!!!) led me back to the armchair!! Then, after a couple of years of ogling e-bikes in July 2024 I bought one….and wow (!) suddenly the hills are achievable! My bike is a Cairns Brave gravel/road bike and I managed to “get out there” a few times before the weather closed down in January and February 2025.

I’m 71 now and have a riding partner and the world is taking on a different sense of delight….so here goes with Komoot and adventures! Cheers….🚴
