Die Burg Eltz ist eine Höhenburg aus dem 12. Jahrhundert und eine der bekanntesten ihrer Art in Deutschland. Sie liegt auf 129 m ü. NHN im Tal der Elz, einem linken Nebenfluss der Mosel, in der Gemarkung der Ortsgemeinde Wierschem in Rheinland-Pfalz. Auf jeden Fall sehenswert, sowohl von außen wie von innen. Da wir etwas zu früh waren, um schon im Hotel einzuchecken, sind wir spontan zu den Externsteinen gefahren. Vor Ort haben wir uns dann für die Route zur Falkenburg entschieden. Alle Wege sind sehr gut beschildert und begehbar, sodass ein verlaufen quasi unmöglich ist. Die Aussicht von der Falkenburg übers Land machen den (kurzen) etwas steilen Anstieg wett.
