Kampot’s 5 Gems rural Loop
🌿 Rural Bike Loop Around Kampot – Absolutely Worth It Today we did one of the best experiences of our trip: a rural bike loop around Kampot that perfectly combines nature, history, and authentic countryside life. We cycled through quiet dirt roads and endless rice fields to reach Phnom Chhngok Cave, home to a 7th-century Hindu temple built inside the mountain. The contrast between the ancient stone structure and the raw cave formations is incredible — small, intimate, and full of atmosphere. From there, we continued along peaceful rural paths to Secret Lake, surrounded by open landscapes, grazing buffalo, and complete silence. It felt like discovering the real Cambodia, far from mass tourism. We stopped at La Plantation to learn about Kampot pepper — fascinating explanations, a great tasting experience, and beautiful surroundings to relax for a while. The ride back was just as memorable: dusty tracks, small villages, kids waving, wide open fields, and that soft golden afternoon light that makes everything feel special. The route is varied, scenic, and manageable by bike if you take it at a relaxed pace. If you’re staying in Kampot, set aside a morning (or even a full day) for this loop. It’s not just a ride — it’s a way to truly experience the landscape and rhythm of the region. Highly recommended. 🚴♂️🌾🌶️
