The tour is more strenuous than the length and altitude would suggest. The paths are narrow, rocky or flooded in places - and there are steep inclines in some sections. Overall, however, it is a very nice tour with a combination of nature and history from the First World War. It is also worth visiting

Fifth and final stage of the Vinschger Höhenweg.
Due to our accommodation in Schlanders, we took the train to Latsch in the morning and from there took the cable car up to St Martin im Kofel.
The train runs every hour, and every half hour in the morning. Cable car every half hour. From the train station

Fourth stage of the Vinschger Höhenweg.
Compared to the previous stages, different terrain, almost Mediterranean paths with succulents, lizards and light-colored rocks. In between there are always valley cuts with beautiful streams.
The descent at the end is quite long and having to overcome a few meters

Stage 3 of the Vinschger Höhenweg.
Quite a strenuous tour given the combination of length and altitude.
The landscape is very beautiful and varied with forest sections, alpine pastures, streams and views.
Destination = Gasthof Paflur with simple rooms, but very good food and a great location.

Second stage of the Vinschger Höhenweg from Planeil to Matsch via the Spitzige Lun.
From Planeil there is a pretty steep climb over 3-4 km. At the top there is theoretically the summit cross of the Spitzige Lun (but hidden in the fog here).
The path then runs along the mountain ridge and can theoretically

Very nice first stage of the Vinschger Höhenweg from Reschen to Planeil - with drawbacks in the first 6-7 kilometers due to the proximity to the valley road. Luckily the weather was very sunny with pleasant temperatures.
You can also replace the first climb with the path directly by the lake. The path

Nice tour from Steibis to the Buchenegger waterfalls and back.
Easy path to walk, a bit muddy in places, but otherwise well developed.
Various options for refreshments, but the alp closes at around 5 p.m. But afterwards there are various places to stop for refreshments in Steibis.

Nice tour starting at the upper town of Agia Marina (close to the main place there). Hike is not too exhausting but keep in mind the sun/heat and bring water. In October we did not meet any people and few cars on the way up to the castle. Great views all along the way. Apitiki military post can be skipped
