Luis Marrafa

Luis Marrafa
He was born and lived until he was 9 years old in Schüttorf in Germany, moved to Évora and then to Lisbon, passed through London and now lives and works in Brussels since 2009. Luis Marrafa, graduated from the Dance School (Escola Superior de Dança) in Lisbon. In Brussels he is the artistic director of the dance company Marrafa company. He creates and produces his own works as choreographer, performer and sound composer, being intuitively inspired by his experience and the multicultural environment around him. Luis Marrafa has always been passionated with nature through sports, mainly through the use of the bicycle, in 1990 he received his first mountain bike and since then he has never stopped pedalling where he got lost several times in the middle of the countryside finding out new trails. In parallel with the artistic world he is part of a triathlon club in Brussels. He does not own a car, but only has bicycles to get around. In June 2022 he set off on his bike from Brussels to Millau in France, took part in the international UCI gravel race and cycled back to Paris in 14 days. He has been travelling every year with his wife loaded with luggage to overcome the biggest challenges, this year in July he overcome the mountains Splugen, Maloja and Albula in Switzerland/Italy. vimeo.com/734637289
