No other words but really tough. Heat was mitigated by a warm Sahara like wind . Head towels our saving grace . No shade for 4 hours . There were stunning views from the tracks and roads yet but hard to take them in. We set off from The Lion Inn at midday .After an hour you could still see the Inn

A Desperate Dan breakfast at 6am with more politics from Wolfgang the owner .
He drops us off at start of next leg . An immediate tough climb but then endless miles of open moor . We follow the old railway track from the coal and iron ore miners. No shade and sun was heating us early . Warm blast of breeze

6am breakfast after the night in the stables ( converted) at the farm .
A contrast today from yesterdays boredom and grind. An immediate climb around Ingleby Wood . Shady well made track. Merged into the Cleveland Way ( which has new and clear signs unlike the C2C ).A climb up Round Hill have us our

This afternoons 15k from Danny Wiiske has no redeeming features more flat roads and narrow edges to field crops . The highlights re crossing the mainline railway line and taking your life in your hands to cross the A19 . Saturated our hats to stay cool but not too bad from a heat perspective . Roasts

The Italian lamp shank, seafood platter and Gavi made for a good nights sleep until the 430 alarm . We want to walk before the sun does it’s thing. The super hosts at our central 400 year old Williance guest house made us a full breakfast at 5. Thankyou to them . We set off with a shortcut from local

The Kings Arms in Reeth is easy to leave although not before paying a tenner each for a packed lunch of a poor sandwich , snickers bar, crisps and a bottle of water ! Why do that when trip advisor exists? ( why water we have 4 litres already?)
However we left with a spring in our step on a glorious

Leaving Keld Lodge our comfortable overnight we looked forward to our gentle 18k stroll to Reeth. However breakfast provided one of the best one liners ever heard. A lone resident brought his dog down to breakfast. He asked the waiter if he could have food for his dog. What does he

Well not quite . Paul packed his Fitbit

A grueling last leg into the Yorkshire Dales. Grasslands and scrub as far as the eye can see. Lambs everywhere. Will we we made it to Kirkby Stephen? The last mile seemed like ten. However the Old Croft House welcomed us by name and said “ tea and cake? “. Never have they been more welcome. So that’s

Our final day has the longest distance 30km . A glades walk along the beck as we leave Glaisdale . What a difference from yesterday . About 19 degrees . Not long and we are in Grosmont .
