There will be very muddy sections when the ground is waterlogged after winter rain but this route is okay in winter after a dry spell. At times the Bourne river in Winterbourne runs deeper than most people will want to ford. Check the photo in the route description - this is looking back towards the

This one should be rideable through the summer jungle season - you might just want to take stock at the short bridleway section immediately after crossing the A30. You can go round this on the road if it's badly overgrown. Also, fine in winter with the usual caveat if it's very wet and muddy but there

Proper old skool tour. Mostly good roads but also a few lumpy lanes, glorious gravel, some short sections of bumpy bridleway, and a fine field or two. All fully rideable on any capable road bike if the ground is reasonably dry.

A tough off-road route through Beddgelert Forest and over into Cwm Pennant. It's planned from Porthmadog but you can complete the loop via Tremadog or the road over to Prenteg, instead of going into Porthmadog, if starting elsewhere. The ascent from the Lon Gwyrfai cycle route up through Beddgelert Forest

In the winter, there are two sections in Ampfield Wood that become unrideably muddy for several hundred metres. The simplest alternative is to take Knapp Lane and then Claypit Lane all the way through.
