From Papigo today we went steadily uphill to the Astraka hut (1,920m). astrakarefuge.com/en
From there it went through an impressive high mountain landscape to the Drakolimnisee where the endemic newt lives. Past snowfields, orchids, gentians and all other colorful mountain flowers ...
And then back to the hut ... A really great mountain hike!If I didn't know that I was in Greece, I wouldn't believe it. This is really far from all clichés and expectations, especially scenic ... And tonight we are the only guests at the hut.

From Monodendri we went steeply downhill into the Vigos Gorge. According to the Guinness Book, the deepest gorge in the world !! 🏞️ de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vikos-Schlucht
To the north we always went uphill, downhill along the gorge. Sometimes in the dry river bed, but mostly a little above. A really nice hiking trail.
There are said to be bears and wolves in the gorge. Luckily we didn't see any. Only a snake scurried across the path and fled when it saw us.
In the southern part it is actually a very deep and steep gorge, which becomes a little less steep to the north.
So all in all, absolutely worth it! And luckily not very touristy. At the end there was a thunderstorm. But we made it to the stage destination in time.PS. The height information is not quite correct. I suspect because the GPS is not working properly in the canyon.

Through valleys over old characteristic stone bridges (built in the 18th and 19th centuries by the Ottoman occupiers) and trade routes.
Thereby scents of wild herbs, humming of insects and few people. When Corona is over, there will likely be more tourists. But the hosts in the taverns are currently very happy about every guest.
The landscape is very beautiful and everything is much greener than I expected.
