Fortunately, there was no blood. What did happen is on the way back from the wonderful Lake Chipstead, Royce’s bike chain snapped in a country lane which was very unexpected. We consequently walked three miles to the nearest station (Knockholt) but overall a great ride and we avoided the worst of the upcoming rain!

I would recommend not to make botley hill your destination as it has no landmark-esque point where you can rest and admire, nor does it have a view that gives you sight of the further landscapes of the north downs. Despite this, this journey was enjoyably challenging and the fog surrounding the valleys
