The descent from the Schlagsattel was not entirely easy, because the narrow path in the upper section was covered in 30 cm of snow due to the unexpected snowfall, and in the lower section it was in places indistinguishable from a stream due to the onset of thaw.

The circular hike is called the "5-lake hike" because it theoretically leads past five lakes, but in fact there were only three in September 2024. Lottensee and Wildmoossee are so-called "a-periodic" lakes that form and disappear again depending on the water supply - a karst phenomenon. Anyone who wants

The turnoff in Auland towards Gschwandtkopf was intentional, as the tour was originally planned differently. But after the cold snap there was a lot of snow and the path was no longer tracked after a game feeding, so I went back to Auland to change sides of the valley and walk back to Seefeld.

The title "On quiet paths" of course only applies during the week; there is a lot going on here at the weekend, depending on the weather. But on a Monday afternoon when I'm out walking with my dog 'Pauli', I've hardly ever had to take it short.

Sunday round with my dog Pauli - and at the same time trying to avoid the many cyclists on the Hautdamm.

A lunchtime walk with my dog 'Pauli', who slows us down every now and then because digging for mice is much more important!

One of the most beautiful hiking trails in the eastern Tannheimer Valley is the “Meraner Steig”, which goes from the village of Rauth to the Krinnenalpe. At an altitude of around 1,500 m, it leads along the slope of the Krinnenspitze and offers an uninterrupted view of the rocky peaks of the Tannheimer

A difficult tour at my age. From year to year the climb to Einstein on the southwest flank becomes more difficult because it is increasingly worn out and therefore more slippery. The descent down the northeast flank into the Achetal is at least partially equipped with ropes. The Einstein Hut offers the

Strenuous circular hike from my hotel in Zöblen to the Bscheisser and back again, the only managed alpine pasture on this route - the Stuiben Sennalpe - is closed on Mondays! So take plenty of water with you, the climb through the gravel is in the sun. On the ridge between Ponten and Bschisser, breathtaking

Because of the unexpected snowfall in mid-September and the avalanche warning, the only way there and back was the forest path through the valley. I actually wanted to go to the Hochalm below the Karwendelhaus (I was last there in 1984), but time was running out. Next time I'll start an hour earlier in Seefeld!
