Nice evening ride on a good day. Not too much road riding when started from the canal car park in llanfoist. We extended the ride to make our way up to just below the trig point and doubled back down to the techy/rocky downhill section before joining the canal again for the final stint.
Fairly easy ride until the final ascent of pen y fal. Most people skirt around the peak and come back down on the Deri side of the mountain. We decided to go up to the summit on this occasion it was tough near the top as the path is mainly foot holes so some trials skills are required or you can push
Awesome ride, rocky climb up an old stream/riverbed and quite boggy in places but still fun. My mate did it on a manual bike so this time stands for both types of bike. We had a short lunch stop at the top of Waun fach and then cracked on. I'm not a massively experienced rider and I still managed ok.

Nice little loop, nothing too taxing after the initial climb out of forest coalpit. Nice variety of terrain from lanes to bridleways and wide open mountains to forest tracks.
