Challenging in places on the escarpment side as the path was narrow and steep. A good tow path for walking along.

Portland Circuit
Followed the coastal path around the island. Path was diverted in a couple of places due to landslips but diversions clearly marked.

This was planned as a circular walk via the Valley of Rocks but even the best made plans can be scuppered when land owners close off footpaths and provide no alternative. The result was an undulating walk out and back. Although the route was illegally terminated the scenery was still magnificent.

The Dales Way is an undulating route to Bowness on Windermere from Staveley. A mixture of lane and fell walking. The heavy rain over the past week had created many wet and muddy stretches along the footpath. Lovely views of Lake Windermere as you come down off the fell. A well signed route.

A pleasant, easy walk. Challenging wet areas along the route caused by the week of torrential rain that has soaked the region. A short bit of road walking.

An easy coastal path walk to Fleet. A lovely old church just off the path open to visitors. Uphill walk along a minor road back to the campsite.
