About Eyk

This time we decided to do the Tour de Murg and return home via Ruhestein, Seibelseckle and Mummelsee. It started at 9:20 a.m. in the direction of Sasbach and since we didn't want to be on the road as far as Gernsbach, we tried to use as many bike paths as possible. We made good progress and drove past the Unimog Museum and Rothenfels Castle to the Murg.
The Tour de Murg only becomes really beautiful from Weisenbach, because from there it was almost exclusively on the bike path far from the road to Baiersbronn.
The goal in Baiersbronn was the Schank-Hütte, a very beautifully situated and rustic stop-off point on this tour. After we refueled, we went through Baiersbronn up towards Ruhestein. Here an approx. 9 km long bike path leads to the Ruhestein with a moderate gradient. Once there, it was a few more meters in altitude in the direction of the Darmstädter hut, before which we turned left in the direction of Seibelseckle. Shortly after the bend there was a grass snake on the side of the road, which snaked leisurely into the undergrowth. Shortly up the small ramp and off to the descent with anticipation of a cyclist on the Seibelseckle. From here, after a short rest, we continued on the hiking trail with a 13% gradient to the Mummelsee, which we left on the right and then headed for the final descent. The Fernskiwanderweg down to the B500, then to Breitenbrunnen and there left onto the "Ewigen Weg" to Schönbüch. Schönbüchstraße and L84 put more strain on the fingers than on the legs until we got back home.
All in all, it was a tour that turned out to be very nice after about 40 km and is really recommended.

Discovering new paths again, taking short breaks on the Kinzig and Rhine rivers and finally ending the tour with cyclists and cakes in the Illenau bistro. We always like to come back here because the service is particularly warm.
