Boltaña - San Victorián Loop | Aragonese Pyrenees The ride begins in Boltaña, a quiet village on the banks of the Ara River, where the morning light still lingers on the stone facades. The road rolls gently toward Aínsa, and soon the Pyrenean foothills begin to rise in the distance. From El Pueyo de Araguás, the route climbs steadily through Torrelisa and Oncins, winding into the silence of oak forests and small mountain hamlets. At the top lies the Puerto de Aro, a 2nd-category climb crowned by the Monasterio de San Victorián, a sacred place said to be one of the oldest in Spain. Standing there, with the wide valleys of Sobrarbe below and the peaks of Monte Perdido on the horizon, the effort feels more than rewarded. The descent toward Los Molinos and Arro is pure joy, narrow, twisting roads, old stone houses, and the scent of pine carried by the wind. From there, the route loops gently back through Aínsa, returning to Boltaña, closing a perfect circle of solitude, landscape, and quiet endurance in the Aragonese Pyrenees.
