One of the most scenic ridge hikes in the Bavarian Alps. The panoramic views over Walchensee and Kochelsee are simply spectacular from start to finish.
The highlight is undoubtedly the Gratweg (ridge way) between Herzogstand and Heimgarten: an exposed ridge that requires sure-footedness, good hiking boots

Today I combined stages 53 and 54 of the Via Romea Germanica, covering 21.2 km in 4h33m from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Mittenwald via Klais.
This hike also marked the end of the German section of the pilgrimage route. From the next stage onward, the Via Romea Germanica crosses into Austria towards Seefeld in Tirol.

A beautiful stage through the Bavarian Alps, starting in the picturesque village of Oberammergau and following quiet paths along the Ammer River towards Ettal. The highlight was undoubtedly the impressive Ettal Abbey, although I couldn't visit the interior because a church service was in progress.

A beautiful ~20 km loop starting in the charming village of Benediktbeuern and heading to Kochelsee, combining alpine scenery, forest paths, wetlands and a touch of history.
The hike starts quietly through the village, home to the historic Benediktbeuern Abbey — one of Bavaria’s oldest monasteries, with

Day 3 of a 3-day adventure on the historic Via Romea Germanica — from Rottenbuch to Oberammergau, 24.4 km in 5h35m. The final day of my three-day trek began early. I packed up camp at dawn after a slightly cold and very humid night in the tent — not perfect sleep conditions, but still a surprisingly

Day 2 of a 3-day adventure on the historic Via Romea Germanica — from Schongau to Rottenbuch, 17.4 km in 5h00m. A much gentler day after yesterday’s brutal 37 km. I left the beautiful historic centre of Schongau early in the morning under clear blue skies, with empty streets and that quiet feeling only

Day 1 of a 3-day adventure on the historic Via Romea Germanica — from Igling to Schongau, 36.7 km in 8h52m (closer to 40 km including the walk from the nearest train station to the official start).
I had wanted to do this route for a long time. With the weather finally improving and a long weekend thanks

23.1 km today through the beautiful Mangfall Valley.
A very mixed hike: almost fully immersed in nature, with forests, streams, birds and some really nice river views — but also quite demanding after the recent rain.
The first section from Weyarn was especially technical, muddy and overgrown. Wet vegetation

13 km around the Osterseen — an easy but surprisingly varied and scenic hike. These glacial lakes south of the Starnberger See offer beautiful landscapes with constant changes between forests, lakeside views, and quiet nature trails.
The main goal of today’s hike was also to break in my new trekking shoes

A scenic 24 km loop hike near Rosenheim exploring the charming countryside around Schloss Maxlrain. The route offers classic Upper Bavaria landscapes: rolling hills, lush green meadows, and a distinctly rural atmosphere, enhanced by the fresh scent of hay in the air. On clear days, hot air balloons drifting

A very rewarding point-to-point hike connecting two of the most beautiful lakes around Munich: Ammersee and Starnberger See.
The first ~4 km from Herrsching am Ammersee up to Andechs Monastery are quite straightforward. We took the “Kiental” variant (shared with bikes): more direct and easier, but also

I intentionally followed the official Komoot route instead of my usual variants to test it — honestly, not the best choice.
The first ~6 km are basically a continuous uphill through the forest. It’s quite monotonous and physically demanding, with very limited variation. Good if you’re looking for a workout

Pleasant and not too demanding hike from Seefeld to Herrsching am Ammersee — around 19 km with ~300 m of elevation gain.
The route starts with a short visit to Seefeld, well worth it for its charming atmosphere and the beautiful castle. From there, the trail quickly immerses you in nature.
A clear highlight

A fantastic historical and scenic loop from Kelheim to Weltenburg Abbey. Starting with the climb to the impressive Befreiungshalle, the trail offers beautiful panoramic views over Kelheim and the Danube before continuing through peaceful Bavarian forests along the high route. A short 1 km detour to the
