Thorney Island loop

There's limited parking at point A. The closest alternative is is paid parking at Emsworth Yacht Harbour across the road. Walk along Thornham Lane and into the boat yard which will be on your left. Continue straight until you reach the water; turn right and keep going. This is lovely remote adventure along mostly narrow tracks so there's not a lot of opportunity to be side by side if you're walking with someone. The views are amazing. No Idea if I should have been thoughtful about the tide or if I just got lucky!

Starting from Dover Lane follow the track on the west outside edge of the first stretch of woodland. Cross over the footpaths at the end of the track, again taking the outside track right. The path drops down to the end of some gallops but take the gate on your right and follow the path (gallops on your left) into the open. When the path has leveled up and straightened up, take the path right climbing through a field. After a gate at the top, pass the trig point and follow the path left. The next gate is across the estate road. This path leads to Angmering Park and another stretch of woodland. There are lots of tracks to choose - including one to take you back to Dover Lane (so you can ignore the tag end of this route towards Selden Lane 😆)

Find this trail from the Horse Unboxing area of Eartham Woods car park. The first part is woodland with a gentle incline before turning out near Upwaltam Hill and you'll start to get views south to the sea. From Glatting Beacon area on your left, cross Monarch's Way and take the track south towards Slindon. Though the gate to open downland there's a bench cut into a huge log. Leave Slindon via a farm track. With a bat barn on your left take the track right, passing Nore Folly, back into Eartham Woods.

Lovely varied route. A couple of steep climbs, plenty of amazing views, nice hedgerows and wildflowers along the way.
