Hi, I’ve decided to get back into biking because, well, I’m fat! I’m 50 years old, 5’9” and 217lbs. I spent a career in the Marine Corps and during that time I was athletic and fit. Post retirement I became less active and eating more. Began experiencing weight related health problems and feeling tired all the time. Have finally come to the point where I’m ready to change my lifestyle. So bought a bike last week and hitting the road. I’ve never been a road cyclist, when I did cycle, it was mostly trail riding. But for now, I’m going to focus on building longer distance rides to fet my cardio back, then incorporate hills. My immediate goal is to get my weight down to 190. Then I’ll start running again.

Loving my new bike so far. Looking forward to many more rides.
