The ride is always enjoyable. The climbs are almost entirely in the shade (helpful in 30-degree heat), the trails are quite overgrown, typical for the season, there are lots of dead trees, beautiful views, and a nice ride along the Werra River on the way back.

Stage 3: Wind without rain at the beginning. Fascinating highland moors. Then rain and a quite dull middle section, at least as long as you don't drop into the local purpuse built trails, which wasn't an option with the heavy backpacks and the slippery trails. Last third of the stage it was sunny again

After a long break, I cycled the standard route again. There were a lot of hikers out there, but the light was beautiful. It was very nice, despite my toes and fingers quickly going numb. It's already autumn, after all 😀
