The Snow White town of Lohr is located on the eastern slope of the Spessart at a bend in the Main, which swings to the south here. This is where the Mainviereck begins (southern part of the Spessart). Lohr offers an architecturally closed ensemble of half-timbered houses in the Franconian style. The largest connected timber-framed building is the Gasthof Krone, first mentioned in 1567. The Lohrer Castle is also worth seeing.
It continues in the direction of Gemünden. In Gemünden the Sinn flows into the Franconian Saale and this then into the Main. For this reason, Gemünden am Main is also known as the “three-river city” or “Franconian three-river city”. In Gemünden, the Main changes its direction from northwest to west in order to pass from the Main triangle, which ends at Gemünden, to the Mainviereck near Lohr am Main. The ruins of the Scherenburg, also called Scherenberg Castle, protrude on a rock above the town center of Gemünden. We spend the night in Erlabrunn am Main. The Maria Hilf pilgrimage chapel, built in 1876, is located on the Volkenberg, which offers a view of the town and the Main Valley.October 12, 2020

Wind is less, the risk of rain increases and it goes down to 12 degrees. On the Taubertal cycle path, with a few drops of drizzle, you continue towards Weikersheim. The Tauberbrücke near Tauberrettersheim is an arched bridge that was rebuilt in this form after a flood in 1733. It can also be seen on the coat of arms of Tauberrettersheim. The Romantic Road leads through the gate of the Schäftersheim monastery courtyard. We are in Weikersheim with the pretty market square. The original moated castle in the stau der Tauber was extensively expanded as a castle in the Renaissance style from 1595. The magnificent baroque palace garden is also worth seeing. Weikersheim Castle is considered the most beautiful of the castles in Hohenlohe. After Weikersheim we cycle past beautiful orchards.
We make a detour to the wine trail in Markelsheim. The Markelsheim educational wine trail leads us to the vineyards above Markelsheim. 30 information boards tell us about regional viticulture and explain the local grape varieties from Riesling to Tauberschwarz. In Elpersheim we change the bank and drive past picturesque vineyards to Bad Mergentheim in the Franconian north-east of Baden-Württemberg. The nice city center and the residential castle Mergentheim, in which there is a museum about the Teutonic Order as well as the baroque castle church and the castle park, are worth a visit. After Bad Mergentheim we go back to the banks of the Tauber for our overnight stay in the winemaking village of Beckstein.October 10, 2020

Today we head towards Tauber in gray autumn weather. Against violently windy, but luckily no rain. For the first time we drive through many small villages and come about halfway to Uffenheim. The next town, Aub, has a beautiful market square. You can take a break here. Up to here an unspectacular stage. Unfortunately there is a lot of road without a bike path and few sights.
It's going to be nice behind Aub. Here we ride the beautiful Gaubahn cycle path to Biberehren. Here
we come across the Taubertal cycle path, which is 101 kilometers long and connects Rothenburg ob der Tauber with Wertheim in Tauberfranken.
Today's destination is Röttingen with half-timbered houses around the market square and in the entire old town and the baroque town hall (around 1750) and Brattenstein Castle. The place is also known as the city of sundials because of the 2.5 km long sundial circular path with 25 sundial objects. The place seems a bit deserted.October 9, 2020

We start in Volkach when the weather is very cloudy and first follow the cycle path on the Main Canal and then on the Main. Wonderful paths over side streets and bike paths. The 25 km / h wind speed gives us trouble despite ebikes. We leave the Schwanberg in the Steigerwald and steer towards our destination Iphofen. The place has a picturesque, completely preserved medieval and baroque old town has a complete city wall with four city towers.

We drive along the Chiemsee to Seeon Abbey and then back via Eggstädt. Everything was there in terms of paths. Split, natural soil and street. Everything went fine. We struggled with mosquitoes in the forest. Seeon Abbey is worth seeing and is beautifully situated between lakes. On the way you have a beautiful view of the islands of Herrenchiemsee and Frauenchiemsee from a vantage point.
