We started at the Waldesruh inn and then went up to the Kälberalm. The path was very demanding, so not suitable for inexperienced hikers. There are steep sections both on the ascent and the descent. The view along the way, especially on the Ortler high trail, makes up for the effort.

This path is described as a Waalweg on the official website of the Vinschgau, but I wouldn't call it that. There was nothing there that you would expect from a Waalweg. Otherwise, the path was easy to walk. There were a few major climbs, but these can be easily managed with good shoes. There are some beautiful viewpoints.
