Sesimbra&Stuff

Hello,

If you read this you may be a sports enthusiast, who happens to be in Sesimbra looking for some orientation regarding different outdoor activities. Welcome to our channel.

MTB:
Mountain biking in Sesimbra is awesome: You don't even have to leave the town to get some serious trail fun on S2 and S3 Level. Sure, this is not Sintra, but like we said: Just pedal up for 200 m in altitude and enjoy your hard earned descent. Do this preferrably in the morning before the sun gets too hot and you will enjoy some unparalleled trail to beach fun. The trails are not owerflown, but on the weekends you will meet some locals who will be happy to shred with you - and maybe show you even more.

ROAD BIKE:
If you prefer to gain your speed on paved roads, the region of Sesimbra is your friend as well. The beauty of Road biking as a sport is that yo can add some sightseeing to your workout and Sesimbra has a lot of it to put into that game. We tried to provide you a couple of suggestions what you can do on your bike: Keeping in mind the aims and needs of a typical sporty rider we chose the best pavements we could find and paired them with some interesting places for snacks and food - or just a nice photo spot to garnish up your Strava activity.

If you enjoyed it as much as we do, please follow us, leave us a comment and feel free to share your experiences with others.

Obrigado.

A nice loop to get to know the area around Sesimbra. The starting point is at the Forte de Santiago, you leave the town heading east on a steep climb towards Santana.

From there, it's downhill for a while and you will roll through numerous small neighboring towns of Sesimbra until you reach the coast

The tour is approximately 90 km long and has 900 meters of elevation gain, of which the first 180 occur directly after the start shortly behind Sesimbra city limits. From there, you take the road towards Amora. Shortly before Amora, the route turns west and winds its way along some quieter roads through

The 160km long big coastal loop with an elevation gain of approx. 1700 meters leads through the Arrábida Nature Park (approx. 750 m) to Setúbal. Here you can take your first break. Our favorite is the "Rockalot" café right on the beach. In addition to the incomparable sea view, everyone will find something

The 70 km long route with an elevation gain of 1200 meters starts in Sesimbra at the Forte de Santiago and leads through the Arrábida Natural Park with magnificent views of Troia, Setubal and the sea.

The last few kilometers before entering Setubal are along the coast, where you can see some ships entering

A route to Lisbon that tries to avoid the heaviest traffic. The destination is not the famous Ponte 25 de Abril, but Casilhas. From here, you take the ferry across to Lisbon for around 2 euros per person, including your road bike.

You ride a few kilometers through Lisbon's hustle and bustle, past Europe

The "DH Assenta" Trails are a collection of different riding descending options. Once there we suggest you check them all out.

For the Uphill we chose the N378. You can access this spot also via the westbound uphill like we used for the "Trilho do Castelo", but the last part uphill would be here very

The "Trilho Do Castelo" is the easiest offload tour in Sesimbra, but also one of the nicest.

We suggest the westbound climb: Ride towards the harbour, then take the panoramic climb on Rua de Palames to Rua de Assenta. There is an uphill foot path to the castle as well but it is steep and full of big cobble

The "Trilho da Caverna" starts in the Macchia somewhere outside the village, has an incredible panoramic view and ends in mid altitude on the M585 Road (which we recommend for most of the uphills). Once there "Trilho da Caverna" can be used as a fun training loop for multiple times. If you are done

The "TST Antenas Trail" is the most fun of all Sesimbra trails: not too difficult, not too easy, lots of speed, great flow and an incredible panoramic view.

The trailhead is close to the panoramic swing. If you follow our tour you will start at the beach using the most convenient climb with less cars

The "Albehas Trail" is located top of the TST Antenas Trail. We suggest the same climbing route. Watch for the trailhead on the left side of the gravel road.

"Albehas" is more difficult than the "TST Antena" and has one gnarly technical part you should definitely check out before riding it blind.
