I started much too late at the Eisenkappler hut. After a quick ascent, I reached the summit in time for sunset and met my two buddies. The distant view was perfect, in the photos you can see Triglav, Dobratsch, Hohe Warte and even the Großglockner. After sunset we stayed at the summit for a while until the last light of the blue hour passed.

Today we started early from the Loiblpass (large parking lot on the Slovenian side) to the Vertatscha. On the last part of the ascent, we decided to take the via Mala glava, which enabled us to discover a lot of edelweiss. This rarely used path is not marked, but is marked on most maps and can be recognized by the experienced. At the summit of Vertatscha (2180m) we were above a sea of clouds with a wonderful view of the Karawanken (unfortunately the Julian Alps were in the fog). The way back was via the normal route on the ridge towards the west and then back at a junction. The normal route is also impressive, especially on the ridge. We could only pass the Planinski dom na Zelenici hut with a heavy heart, the smell of the hut was too good, but Michi still had to go to work, which he reached almost in time 😅.

You start the hike to the Fuscherkarkopf from the Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Höhe, where there is plenty of parking space in a multi-storey car park. First it goes through dark (switch on the flashlight on your mobile phone!) Tunnels and then along the wide path from Gamsgrubenweg. After a while you will reach a wayside cross. From there it only goes steeply upwards. You will always find steel ropes to hold on to. The consistently snow-free normal route (July 21) up is not marked! During the day, the experienced hiker can recognize the path. When you arrive at the ridge, you can immediately see the Great Wiesbachhorn and many Salzburg mountain peaks. From there it goes along a wonderful and quite wide ridge to the summit at 3331m above sea level. The view of the Großglockner, Schobergruppe, Johannisberg, Pasterze and all of the glaciers is unique. We even discover the Watzmann and the Julian Alps!
On the way back, it is difficult to make progress because of the magnificent view of the Großglockner 😁.

Short run in the morning right on the beach. After that, breakfast tastes all the better!

Because winter is still raging in the mountains, I went to the highest bathing lake in Carinthia. It was still too cold to swim, of course, but it was perfect for a short hike. From the parking lot in Neusach it goes on a forest path to the Ronacherfelsen. The Lienz Dolomites are always in view and nature is currently in full splendor. From the Ronacherfels you follow a hiking trail to the viewing platform "Schöne Aussicht", which invites you to linger with benches and a table and offers a wonderful view of the lake and the Lienz Dolomites. You could also hike on to the east bank and then take the boat back there, but I decided to go for the sunset.
