Ponta de São Lourenço, Madeira, Portugal (Nearly all information is from official Portuguese sources. Only in the last paragraph I made some comments to help those who would wish to visit the area). Ponta de São Lourenço (PSL) is the easternmost peninsula on the Madeira Island. The entire land area is included in the protected area classified as a Natural Park of Madeira since its creation in 1982. Ponta de São Lourenço it is in the Natura 2000 Network like a Special Conservation Zone (ZEC) and Special Protection Zone (ZPE). A nesting site for some protected seabirds, such as Cory's shearwater, Bulwer's petrel, Madeiran Storm Petrel and Common tern. The Islet of the Lighthouse is a place of excellence for nesting because it does not have any terrestrial predators. One of the largest colonies of yellow-legged gull in the Region nests on Desembarcadouro (Landing) Islet. The semi-arid climate and its exposure to North winds have sculpted the low vegetation and explain the lack of trees, which distinguish this area from the rest of the Island and is a veritable natural heritage. The views from all different directions are outstanding, the cliffs are otherwordly. Beautiful local plants decorate the cliffs. A visit to Madeira without waking Ponta de São Lourenço is obviously a great mistake. Entrance to the national park costs 4,5 euros per person through the Portuguese app Simplifica. The authorities introduced Simplifica to cope with the influx of one million tourists visiting the island and walking the famous all over the world paths. It is very windy during March. Η Πόντα ντε Σάο Λουρένσο (PSL) είναι η ανατολικότερη χερσόνησος του νησιού Μαδέρα. Ολόκληρη η έκταση της περιλαμβάνεται στην προστατευόμενη περιοχή, η οποία έχει χαρακτηριστεί ως Φυσικό Πάρκο της Μαδέρας. Η Πόντα ντε Σάο Λουρένσο περιλαμβάνεται στο Δίκτυο Natura 2000, ως Ειδική Ζώνη Διατήρησης (ZEC) και Ειδική Ζώνη Προστασίας (ZPE). Ένα σημείο φωλιάσματος για ορισμένα προστατευόμενα θαλασσοπούλια, όπως ο μύχος, ο πετρέλος και ο κοινός γλάρος. Το νησάκι του Φάρου είναι ένα εξαιρετικό μέρος για φωλιάσματα επειδή δεν έχει χερσαίους θηρευτές. Μία από τις μεγαλύτερες αποικίες κιτρινόγλαρων στην περιοχή φωλιάζει στο νησάκι που εκτείνεται μετά τη χερσόνησο. Το ημι-άνυδρο κλίμα και η έκθεσή του στους βόρειους ανέμους έχουν σμιλεύσει τη χαμηλή βλάστηση και εξηγούν την έλλειψη δέντρων, γεγονός που διακρίνει αυτήν την περιοχή από το υπόλοιπο νησί και αποτελεί πραγματική φυσική κληρονομιά. Η θέα από όλες τις διαφορετικές κατευθύνσεις είναι εκπληκτική, οι βράχοι είναι απόκοσμοι. Όμορφα τοπικά φυτά στολίζουν τους βράχους. Μια επίσκεψη στη Πόντα ντε Σάο Λουρένσο επιβάλλεται. Η είσοδος στο εθνικό πάρκο κοστίζει 4,5 ευρώ ανά άτομο μέσω της πορτογαλικής εφαρμογής Simplifica. Οι αρχές εισήγαγαν την Simplifica για να αντιμετωπίσουν την εισροή ενός εκατομμυρίου τουριστών που επισκέπτονται το νησί και περπατούν στα διάσημα μονοπάτια. Έχει πολύ αέρα κατά τη διάρκεια του Μαρτίου.

Llyn Gwynant, Eryri, North Wales. Μια πανέμορφη διαδρομή στην καρδιά του εθνικού πάρκου Eρερι. (Σύντομη περιγραφή στα Αγγλικά, Ουαλικά και Ελληνικά). An interesting walk around a beautiful lake in the heart of Eryri/Snowdonia national park. We start walking from the same car park as for Watkin path parking space but we follow the river instead. Later on there are spectacular views of the lake from the path. The walk is deep inside the Eryri national park in the heart of the ancient Kingdom of Gwynedd. The walk is 10 klm. and it takes  five hours to complete. Taith gerdded ddiddorol o amgylch llyn hardd yng nghanol parc cenedlaethol Eryri. Rydyn ni  dechrau cerdded o'r un maes parcio ag ar gyfer lle parcio llwybr Watkin ond rydyn ni dilyn yr afon. Mae golygfeydd ysblennydd o'r llyn o'r llwybr. Mae'r llwbyr cyhoeddus yn ddwfn y tu mewn i barc cenedlaethol Eryri yng nghanol hen Deyrnas Gwynedd. Mae'r daith gerdded yn 10 klm. ac mae'n cymryd pump awr i orffen y daith.  Μια ενδιαφέρουσα διαδρομή γύρω από μια όμορφη λίμνη στην καρδιά του εθνικού πάρκου Eryri/Snowdonia. Ξεκινάμε με τα πόδια από το ίδιο πάρκινγκ όπως και για το Watkin path, αλλά ακολουθούμε το ποτάμι. Αργότερα υπάρχει εκπληκτική θέα στη λίμνη από το μονοπάτι. Η διαδρομή βρίσκεται βαθιά μέσα στο εθνικό πάρκο Eryri, στην καρδιά του αρχαίου βασιλείου του Gwynedd. Η απόσταση είναι 10 χλμ. και χρειάζονται πέντε ώρες για να ολοκληρωθεί η πεζοπορία.

Outstanding views of Conwy castle Πεζοπορία στο βουνό Conwy. Conwy mountain walk. Cerdded o gwmpas mynydd Conwy. Mae hon yn daith gerdded ddiddorol a braidd. Y pellter cyffredinol yw 14 klm. Mae'n cymryd tua 6 awr i orffen y cwrs. Mae yna rai dringfeydd a disgyniadau serth uwchben mynydd Conwy. Bydd angen sgiliau da i ddod o hyd i lwybrau mewn mannau. Πρόκειται για μια μεγάλη πεζοπορία πάνω από τους λόφους του Conwy και τις γεωργικές εκτάσεις κάτω στην κοιλάδα. Σε μια καθαρή μέρα, η θέα είναι εκπληκτική προς το Llandudno και τον  τον ποταμό Conwy. Η πεζοπορία έχει μήκος 14 χλμ. και χρειάζεστε περίπου 6 ώρες για να την ολοκληρώσετε. Ακολουθούμε την πινακίδα του μονοπατιού της Βόρειας Ουαλίας. Κατά μήκος του μονοπατιού έχετε υπέροχη θέα στις εκβολές του Conwy μέχρι το Great Orme. Στην κορυφή υπάρχει ένα οχυρό της εποχής του σιδήρου που ονομάζεται Castell Caer Seion. Το κάστρο χτίστηκε μεταξύ 1283 και 1287 από τον βασιλιά Εδουάρδο Α΄ μετά την ήττα του Llewellyn, πρίγκιπα της Ουαλίας.  Θα μπορούσατε να επεκτείνετε την πεζοπορία γύρω από το δάσος Bodlondeb του Conwy This is a long walk over the hills of Conwy and the lower valley farmlands. On a clear day the views are outstanding across to Llandudno and of the river Conwy itself. The walk is 14 klm long and you need about 6 hours to complete. We follow the North Wales footpath sign. Along the path you  have grand views over the Conwy estuary to the Great Orme. There is an Iron age hillfort named Castell Cae r Seion at the summit. There are superb views in all directions from the summit. The highlight of the walk in the end is the splendid view of Conwy castle. The castle was built between 1283 and 1287 by king Edward I after the defeat of Llewellyn the prince of Wales. You could extend the walk around Bodlondeb forest.

Machno falls walk, Gwynedd, Wales. Βόρεια Ουαλία. Μια πεζοπορία που εξερευνά τα λιγότερο γνωστά δάση στο νότιο άκρο της κοιλάδας Conwy μέσα από παλιά μονοπάτια και δασικούς δρόμους. Ένα από τα σημαντικότερα αξιοθέατα της πεζοπορίας είναι μια μεσαιωνική γέφυρα για άλογα. Κατά τον Μεσαίωνα η περιοχή ήταν διαβόητη ως η κατοικία των παρανόμων και των κλεφτών που επιθυμούσαν να αποφύγουν τη δικαιοσύνη (Carl Rogers 2009). Χαρακτηριστικό αυτής της πεζοπορίας είναι τα πολλά ποτάμια και καταρράκτες. A walk which explors the lesser known woods at the Southern end of Conwy valley using a series of old tracks and forest roads. One of the highlights of the walk is a medieval packhorse bridge. During the middle ages the area was notorious as the abode of outlaws and thieves wishing to avoid justice (Carl Rogers 2009).

This is an interesting and quite strenuous hike through ancient woods steeped in history. The overall distance is 13 klm. the total ascent is 450 m. and it takes about 6 hours to finish the course. There are some steep ascents and descents above Betws y coed. The start is from the miners' bridge and the finish at Betws y coed. It's best if you start the hike straight from Sarn Helen instead of Betws y coed. The miners' bridge stands close to where the Roman road known as Sarn Helen crossed afon Llygwy. The Glyn Lledr part of the walk is particularly interesting. The small bridge that crosses afon Lledr was shut by the authorities but it was essential to cross it in order to continue our journey. Ond efallai ei bod yn well i ddechrau'r daith yn syth o Bont y Glowyr, gan ddringo i fyny Sarn Helen ar y dechrau. Mae Pont y Glowyr yn agos at ble roedd y ffordd Rufeiniadd o'r enw Sarn Helen yn croesi afon Llygwy. Mae rhan Glyn Lledr o'r daith gerdded yn arbennig a ddiddorol. Caewyd y bont fach sy'n croesi Afon Lledr gan yr awdurdodau am ei bod angen ei hadnewyddu, ond roedd yn hanfodol i'w chroesi yn ofalus er mwyn parhau â'n taith.

Trefriew and Llyn Geirionydd Mae hon yn daith gerdded ddiddorol drwy goedwig hynafol sy'n llawn hanes. Y pellter cyfan yw 11.2 cilometr. Mae'r ddringfa gyfan yn 415 m ac mae'n cymryd tua 5 awr i orffen y daith. Mae yna rai dringfeydd a disgyniadau serth uwchben Trefriw. Fel arall mae'n daith gerdded ysgafn. Ar ôl 3.5 cilometr gwelwn lyn hardd Llyn Geirionydd. Ar ochr ogleddol y llyn mae cofeb wedi'i chodi i'r bardd Cymreig Taliesin. Uchafbwynt y daith yw hen gapel Llanrychwyn. Adnabyddir Eglwys Rhychwyn Sant yn lleol fel "Hen Eglwys Llywelyn' oherwydd roedd Llywelyn Fawr, Tywysog Gwynedd, yn addoli yma gyda'i wralg Siwan yn y 12fed ganrif. There are some steep ascents and descents above Trefriew. Otherwise it is a mild walk. After 3,5 klm. we see the beautiful lake of Llyn Geirionedd. On the northern side of the lake there is a monument erected for Welsh bardd Talesin. We follow the western side of the lake. After about 6,5 klm. there is a picnic area on one side. During the spring and summer, this area is full of wild flowers essential for pollinators such as bees, butterflies and insects to feed on. As it is well known pollinating insects are essential for growing fruit and crops, and in turn, for the existence of all of us! However, In Wales, honeybees suffered a 23% population decline between 1985 and 2005 due to loss of habitat and use of chemicals. This decline has to be reversed. By continuing the hike we reach St Rhychwyn's Church which is located high above Gwydir forest. The awesome St Rhychwyn's Church is reputedly the oldest surviving church in Wales. It feels as if we are transferred back centuries ago. While entering the court there is an interesting inscription: "When you enter the church you will find that it has a unique atmosphere, as though time has stood still for centuries. The old bier that carried coffins across the hills and fields still hangs on the wall. The door itself with its quirky angle and low frame evokes the sense that you are about to discover something special. St Rhychwyn's Church is known locally as 'Llywelyn's Old Church' because Llywelyn the Great, Prince of Gwynedd, worshipped here with his wife Joan in the 12th century". The start and finish of the hike is Trefriew village. The name Trefriw is derived from two ancient Welsh words meaning Healing Town. Prior to the introduction of the railway in 1868, Trefriw had been an important trading centre and at one time was regarded as the biggest inland port in Wales. General merchandise was brought up by river from the coast and the boats returned full of slate, ore and timber from the surrounding hills. Trefriw was also an important centre for the wool industry. The mill is now one of Trefriw's main attractions. At the turn of the century there were rowing boats and pleasure steamers on the Conwy river, excepting Sundays, daily trips from Conwy, Llandudno and Deganwy. Trefriw is now a busy centre for hill-walking and recreation.

Gwydir forest from Llanrwst. Πορεία στο δάσος Γκουιντιρ στην Βόρεια Ουαλία. (Περιγραφή στα Ουαλικα, Ελληνικά και Αγγλικά). Mae hon yn faith gerdded syfrdanol o brydferth yng nghanol Coedwig Gwydir. Mae'r cerddwr yn synnu at nifer y llynnoedd a'r lagwnau yn y goedwig. Mae'r llwybr yn ddiddorol ac amrywiol. Fel ysgrifennodd Carl Rodgers, mae hon yn "llwybr hir a chymharol egnïol, gyda rhai dringfeydd parhaus yn bennaf ar lwybrau a lonydd coedwig da, gan archwilio rhan ddwyreiniol Coedwig Gwydir gyda'i nifer o lynnoedd. Mae 'na olygfa eang i'r gorllewin. Πρόκειται για μια εκπληκτικά όμορφη πεζοπορία 14 χλμ. στην καρδιά του δάσους Gwydir. Ο πεζοπόρος μένει έκπληκτος από τον μεγάλο αριθμό λιμνών μέσα στο δάσος. Η εύρεση της διαδρομής είναι ενδιαφέρουσα και κάπως περίπλοκη. Όπως έγραψε ο Carl Rodgers, πρόκειται για "μια μακρά και μετριως επίπονη διαδρομή, με μερικές παρατεταμένες αναβάσεις κυρίως σε πολύ δασικά μονοπάτια εξερευνώντας το ανατολικό τμήμα του δάσους Gwydir με τις πολυάριθμες λίμνες του. Υπάρχουν πανοραμικές εικόνες προς τα δυτικά δηλαδή προς τις ψηλότερες κορυφές". Υ.Γ. The hiker/ walker is astonished by the number of lakes and lagoons inside the forest. Route finding is intriguing even though there is a derailed description in Carl Rogers' book "Walks in Conwy valley". As Carl Rodgers wrote this is "a long and moderately strenuous route, with some sustained ascents mainly on good forest tracks and paths, exploring the eastern section of the Gwydir Forest with its numerous lakes. There are wide views westwards to the higher peaks set against a foreground of forest and lakes from several points along the route".
