Currymoor Drove
The Drove runs NE below the ridge of North Curry and is pan flat after the stone bridge over the R Tone. Dry, as now, it's doable on 28 mm tyres. I wouldn't go that way after rainfall. Maunsel Lock Café a treat, as ever.

Aller Drove
Aller Drove is a long, straight, empty haul over the moor (as the Levels are known) between Pathe and Aller. This my longest ride since hiphop, and on the 1980s Cinelli steel racebike with 5 bar in the cotton tyres, fabulous on the rare stretch of smooth highway.

Beyond Wellington
...not much but for Devon and Cornwall. Always a surprise how much difference prevailing wind makes in an out-and-back like this. Out was pretty disheartening; back was OK-ish. Note that St Giles Church offers free refreshment to cyclists and walkers—how civil is that!

Taunton CC summer's last pub run
First ride back in company. Spooky, in day's last light, swooping down the darkling lanes from the Farmers Arms in West Hatch. Chilly too!

Ilminster loop ccw
The gravel path on the track of the old GWR Chard-Taunton branch line, with the restored Donyatt Halt, is delightful, so too the northward trail across Dillington Park at the top of the town. My first 50+ km day since hiphop, and first time over the Blackdowns, hard
