Making my way home after taking the car to the garage, I thought I'd explore this unknown (to me, at least) area of Leeds. Although between a busy railway line and the A65 just north of Central Leeds, the Reserve turned out to be a green oasis, with birdsong everywhere, bushes full of berries for the coming winter, and waterside views of the River Aire and the Leeds & Liverpool canal.

Walking with my regular MeetUp group, this outing undertaken on a beautiful Bank Holiday Sunday. Steep, yes, but good boots and lots of steps made this less of a challenge than one might think. Lots of people making this famous climb, but away from the Topping itself, only a few other walkers encountered. And finishing with a pint with fellow walkers, in the King's Head, just down the road from the Car Park, was the perfect end to a perfect day.
