The ride is very peaceful, I did it running / walking. However, the Apuan Alps are small but severe mounds, a few pieces exposed c and always, and the sensitivity with respect to the exposure is so subjective that I tend to never express myself about it.
Before the gpx allow me a brief description of the ring, which can also be done entirely on CAI trails, I made variations for the particular weather conditions, I was very sweaty and I was looking for sun and shelter from the wind.
Now you can call each other and see information such as activity status and when messages are read.
It starts from Carrara (my track starts from Avenza ideal if you arrive by train and you want to run 10-12 km more than the total), the path I think is the 185 called monte d arma starts almost from the center of Carrara, on the road that heads towards Torano. You go up to monte d arma (the last inhabited houses) and continue towards the Rocchetta .... here you enter the Apuan Alps, nothing mountaineering or exaggeratedly exposed but pay attention to a couple of steps. Reached the Rocchetta you can enjoy a wide view of the coast and a very wide view of the "crestola" and the neighboring montagnicidiofrom here you follow the ridge, it is never very narrow but what has been said above regarding sensitivity to exposure applies, it is an easy path but not touristic, you walk on rocks and in certain conditions it can be slippery, moreover at this altitude it is not it is rare to encounter a bit of sleet.
it is however interesting and it is worth stopping for a few minutes to explore the trenches of the Gothic line and maybe find some relics, one trench is clearly visible, the other requires an eye to be found.
after the ridge / ridge you come to a steep stretch of wood, I always catch wild boars, but yesterday they weren't there .... maybe some Bracco will have caught them first. You first climb into the steep wood, with the help of the stairway made by the CAI which makes the ground less slippery and easier, then you do a zig-zag ... here if you go in the summer the nettles and the tall vegetation can sometimes be a bit difficult to see the path which is however well markedout of the woods it intersects the asphalted road, at this point you are at a small clearly visible weather station, the cai path continues along the carriageway for a couple of km (perhaps a little less) to the locality of ferrari huts where you the path again turning on the north sidethe gpx that I am attaching to you after this relationship torment immediately turns right along a quarry road, sign forbidden access to non-professionals ... sti cocksfrom here there are no signs and you need to be able to find your own way, there is nothing difficult with good visibility and no snow, many traces left by the mining activity that help to climb, but also create chasms in the least suspicious places , for example, follow the quarry road and do not make you want to cut through the woods, and in the first part of the ridge that you start to climb after the quarry houses, if you really have to get lost, get lost on the left because on the right you end up above "la tecchia" (cut of the vertical mountain caused by excavation) of an active quarry, there a harmless grassy hump plunges for 60/70 meters vertically, most likely without any warning since the tag prevents anyone from entering the area.climbed the first ridge after a couple of houses / shacks of the shepherd you reach a path (old via di quarry) if you take it to the left you go back to the carriage road, while if you go right (gpx) you arrive at old quarry buildings created as a small house with a view, from there an easy ridge leads you to the monument that the mountain community has given to two collaborators who fell during an aerial survey and to the road a few hundred meters before the panoramic squarethe way back is all on the CAI silk road passing through gabellaccia, castelpoggio, fontia ....immediately after fontia (you are only interested if you arrive by train and want to return to avenza, otherwise you have to return to Carrara then after castelpoggio turn towards Sorgnano), in short, to return to Avenza after the town of Fontia, keep the left side of the road after the entrance of a house, you will see a sewage treatment plant downstream shortly afterwards an unmarked path (a wide mule track) starts, the gas pipeline makes it possible to be on the right path, with this one descends Fossola and from there taking the avenue on the right you return to the station
