The Gare de l’Est, formerly known as the Gare de Strasbourg, is the oldest train station in Paris, inaugurated in 1850 by Napoleon III. It is from this emblematic station that the legendary Orient Express, which linked Paris to Istanbul, departed. Today, it serves the Grand Est region of France as well as cities in Germany and Luxembourg. The station houses a 110 square meter bunker, and many shops and restaurants are located there. Its rooftop also offers a most original view of the capital.

The Paris-Est station - Gare de l’Est (German Ostbahnhof) - is one of the six major Parisian train stations. It is located in the 10th arrondissement, not far from the Gare du Nord (German North Station). With 34 million passengers a year (93,000 a day), it is the fifth largest Paris train station.
